Sofia Grossman
Undergraduate intern (Fall 2020 through Summer 2021)
Sofia Grossman is an Environmental Science and Technology major with a concentration in Ecosystem Health at the University of Maryland-College Park and is a member of the Environment Technology and Economy Scholars program. She is from Olney, Maryland. Sofia realized her passion for ecosystem health when she volunteered as a citizen scientist for the Smithsonian in high school. She helped monitor the water quality of the northwest branch of the Anacostia River watershed and presented the findings at the 2018 Maryland Water Monitoring Conference. Sofia also traveled to the Chesapeake Bay where she participated in Chesapeake Bay Foundation led activities and completed independent water quality testing. She is an avid runner, and likes to read and listen to music. Sofia is a member of the UMD Club Running team. She loved working in the Agroecology lab where she helped with investigating the effects of saltwater intrusion on Maryland's Eastern Shore coastal agricultural systems.
